The Electric Picinic music festival kicks off this weekend and this year it promises to be one of the greenest! Working alongside Cultivate, EmissionZero, Body and Soul,BYE and ourselves, POD have developed a sustainability strategy to guide its activities to reduce the Electric Picnic's impact on the planet. It aims to make the Picnic one of the most sustainable music festivals in the world.
We all know music festivals take a large toll on the environment however with this long term strategy the Picnic aims to put in place the actions that need to be taken to put the festival on a low carbon, low waste trajectory. This year we are delighted to provide the Picnic with our Gigulator which measures the carbon footprint of people attending the festival.
It's not only about minimising the festival's impact it is also about creatively highlighting the issues and exploring the solutions at the festival. To this end the Sustainability Team have worked to communicate a coherent message throughout the festival and to give participants the opportunity to engage in the process, entitled The Climate is Changing. Will you?
For more information on the strategy check out the Eco Picnic and check out the rest of the festival website. If you are attending and not bopping along to some tunes then come kill ten minutes and come see me give a talk about Edenbee on Sunday at 3.30pm in the Global Green area.
