A couple of days ago I posted a video on the worlds first 100% carbon free community. A development like this begs us to question the future of cities and how they will evolve and develop. Perhaps a discussion in the hive on this would be interesting, anybody up for it? Anyway the architectural firm responsible for Masdar, Foster & Partners are at it again this time in Moscow where they have just received preliminary planning permission to start construction on this volcano-shaped superstructure in Moscow, which will be dubbed “Crystal Island” In terms of efficiency monolithic buildings like this seem unnecessary, but the proposed dimensions are amazing: it will be 1,500 foot tall with 26,909,776 foot squared of floor space, that’s enough room to house 30,000 people.
