That's a very unique photograph and it show a lot of usefulness.
Welcome to Edenbee's first funky competition, the first of many, so stay tuned. The prize is an A3 framed image of an old Dodge truck valued at €500 and was taken by photographer Fionn McCann in Bolivia in South America. Featured in his new exhibition "28".
“28” comprises of 28 extraordinary images from a journey through South America in 2006. Fionn’s experience meeting street children at the Elim orphanage – in the Santiago district of Cusco, Peru – was the original inspiration for “28”. Elim is seeking capital funding to build a library, workshop and accommodation for another 40 children and volunteer workers. The proceeds from Fionn McCann’s “28” show will go to assist this endeavor.
So be sure to check it out and bring your wallet too :-)))
Uyuni 1 is a beautiful and thought provoking image which depicts the resourcefulness of people in hardship. Recycled and maintained this gracious and trusty machine has had a full and hard working life by the great salt plains of Bolivia. To me it talks of our mismanagement of resources and a world needing balance. What does it say to you??
All you have to do to enter is comment below. For those of you outside the UK and Ireland we are offering 5 CDs see here donated by Warner Music. Sorry US Bees and beyond, carbon footprint and all of that!!!
The most creative and ingenious comments will be selected. Then our panel of judges, which includes the artist, will decide on the winner with the results posted on Friday the 17th following the exhibition. Go mad!!!
The exhibition opens on Friday the 10th of October with a drinks reception from 6-9pm and continues til 5pm Sunday 12th. Cutivate Living and Learning Centre 15-19 Essex St West Temple Bar Dublin 8

Gorgeous photograph.

Goes to show if you build something with the thought that it is meant to last, it will - way beyond it's intended life-span.
-
The dodge is mumbling, "Wash me."

I know the competition's over, just thought I'd add that for US participants, you could add like free iTunes download of great artists, or free investment voucher into www.Slicethepie.com artists, or eg free carbon-offset certificate, or donation to a green/human rights organisation (among a few reputable ones) of their choice...?
Might be an idea to promote some lesser-known orgs & great projects too...?
As for the old dodge, I'm amazed at the resourcefulness of 'third world' countries too..
It's the 'zero waste' vs. 'energy efficiency' debate, but I'm happy the dodge is reused.. maybe there could be like a project teaching 2nd hand car users how to use less fuel & more environmentally friendly options - or eg a company selling eco-friendly modifications to existing gear? -
Hey, so who won the competition then?! Been waiting with bated breath since October!!!

The winner was Dexter http://www.edenbee.com/users/dexter
