don t you think it s already about the money the irishes can own? in my opinion when I see the salaries and the price of the renting accomodation if you compare with France (where I come From) its quite the same...

I live with a host family in Dublin. I booked that about 6 months ago and have to pay 190€/week. If I booked it now, it would be 215€/week.
    I think that's unbelievable!

I am living in rented accomadation, and no matter what happens I am glad I never bought a place. But rents should definitely be looked at by everyone. When this contraction of society occurs, we are forced into a position of creativity, and this we should embrace.

Maybe i wasn't being clear as to why i started this discussion. Rent is dropping.
I know of several people who have presented this fact to their landlords and have successfully negotiated a reduction in their rent. I wanted to see if there is anyone else out there who had done anything about this and what had come of it.

I've never heard of dropping rents. What's the reason for that?

I think this is a great idea (that's cause I pay rent) is there more information out there about this?

I read in the newspaper yesterday that properties have been empty for weeks and estate agents can’t find anyone to take it at the asking rent, so the rents are dropping.

I wish mine was, but unfortunately me and my flat-mates signed a contract before the crisis regarding the price and period we're suppose to pay and stay, so there's nothing I can do or ask to my landlord. But as everybody knows, hope is the last to die!
