Get a bokashi bucket for food waste
Bokashi uses an enzyme to break down all kinds of food waste, including meat. It doesn't smell either so you can keep a bucket in the kitchen. http://www.bokashi.co.nz/

That's odd - we've had a couple of bokashi buckets in the staff room here at work for several years and the only time it ever got smelly was when the person who was looking after it was away. We have compost at home as well but its useful to have something there in the kitchen which you can chuck things in while you work. I always used to have just a colander on the bench which got emptied into the compost but i think that this will be better.

Hhmmmm...I no longer use mine, I found them messy, smelly, time consuming & kinda pointless for me. The waste still needs to be dealt with (either bury it-as it now decomposes faster-or compost it). So now I just use a tupperware with a lid (one with a pop up hole in the lid is great as you can just pop it open to out stuff in without having to take the whole lid off every time.) & then take that straight to compost/worm farm.
