  1. Coasting. Point of interest. When coasting the engine is using fuel, to usee less fuel leave the car in gear and use the break to slow down, geeez, thought everyone knew that. 2 answers

      I think the point is to take your foot off the gas, and not drive full-speed up to a light, then slam on the brakes to stop. Basically, take your foot off the gas as early as you can.

      If the accelerator accelerates, lifting one's foot off the accelerator, arguably, does the antithesis.

      The point is to use intuition and common sense to start coasting long before one gets to a light. Or if in traffic, long before one starts tailgating. Decelerating does not use more fuel. If done properly, it indeed conserves large amounts of fuel.
